Native American Education Program

 

 

Mission
The mission of the Prescott Unified School District Native American Education Program is to support the academic success, cultural identity, and well-being of Indigenous students through culturally responsive education. The program honors Indigenous knowledge, traditions, and relationships to land by providing meaningful, supplemental learning opportunities that promote equity, belonging, and student achievement. Through collaboration with families, community members, and knowledge keepers, the program empowers students to thrive academically while strengthening their connection to
culture, community, and place.

What we offer:

  • Monthly Parent Committee meetings, usually on the second Monday of every month, subject to change. Please contact Judy Stencel at 928-830-7658 to confirm.
  • Indigenous Club for our high school students at Prescott High School. Meets twice a month, usually the last two Tuesdays of the month.
  • Tutoring for Native Students based on funding, need, receipt of 305/506 forms.
  • Garden Club in spring and summer at Prescott High School-open to all students in PUSD. 
  • Monthly Activities
  • Celebrate Native American Heritage at Prescott Powwow: Dance, Music, Art & Culture at Watson Lake Park each September
  • Art Classes at the ‘Tis Annex from January - April concluding with Journeys in Spirit | Indigenous Youth exhibit in May and June
  • Caps & gowns as well as tribal stoles for graduating seniors based on funding and receipt of 305/506 forms.
