A unique partnership between PUSD and The Launch Pad Teen Center
Mile High partners with “The Launch Pad” to provide opportunities for students to engage in clubs and activities after the school day is over. The Launch Pad is a community organization that provides programming that is culturally relevant to teens in Yavapai County. Through this partnership, students at Mile High are eligible to receive tutoring when needed and participate in programs of their interest at the Launch Pad (on the Prescott College Campus). The Launch Pad’s Weekly Fall Programs
This semester, The Launch Pad is offering two new, yet familiar, programs; HUES and WILD. HUES is a weekly arts program that will focus on creating a space for young artists to come and explore new and contemporary styles, while experimenting with varying mediums. WILD is The Launch Pad’s weekly outdoor adventure program that will focus on wilderness education, self-discovery, and of course, having fun outdoors! Read below to find out more about days and cost.
H.U.E.S.: HUES stands for “Humans Uncovering Extraordinary Styles” and is a weekly arts program that meets every Tuesday from 3:30 to 5:30pm. Each week the group will embark on a project that will challenge their creativity and aid in the expansion of their ideas of what it means to be creative without limits.
Program Cost: $25 per school semester (Scholarships Available Upon Request)
W.I.L.D.: WILD stands for “Wilderness Intelligence and Limitless Discovery” and is a weekly outdoor adventure program that meets every Wednesday from 3:30-5:30pm.
Each week the group will meet at The Launch Pad for a quick briefing and will embark on their journey for the week. Given that the time frame is tight, it is pertinent that your teen shows up on time or they may not be able to participate for the week.
Program Cost: $75 per school semester (Scholarships Available Upon Request)
The Launch Pad’s Academic Mentoring Program
In addition to offering drop-in tutoring services for students to utilize academic assistance with difficult subjects, The Launch Pad also offers Academic Mentoring. Drop-in tutoring is great as it gives teens the opportunity to take the initiative in their academic success; however, sometimes it’s nice to have someone to hold you accountable and have your back, that’s where Academic Mentoring comes in.
The Launch Pad’s model for Academic Mentoring looks like setting personalized goals with the parent and teen that focus on a student’s individual strengths and areas of struggle, weekly one-to-one check-ins with an academic mentor, and awards for dedication and consistency.
If you would like to get your teen connected with The Launch Pad’s academic mentoring program call (928) 227-0758 or go to our Academic Mentor Registration form and fill out the online form.
Program Cost: $25 per school semester (that’s only $50 for the entire school year!) (Scholarships Available Upon Request)
The Launch Pad also offers direct services for teens who are struggling with mental health, teens who are low-income, and teens who need academic coaching and/or tutoring. The Launch Pad offers programs for LGBTQ teens and for teenage girls. Please email us if you would like information on those programs. The Launch Pad is a place for all teens.
