Scholarship News – Sept. 2018

The PHS Scholarship News is updated monthly with scholarship opportunities for PHS students and is emailed to seniors and posted on the bulletin board outside the Advisement Office. Hard copies are available in the Advisement Office/Career Center. If you have any questions, please stop by the Advisement Office/Career Center, as we are happy to answer them!

P.E.O. Star Scholarship

  • Eligibility: Senior women who exhibit excellence in leadership, academics, extracurricular activities, and community service. GPA 3.0 or higher.
  • Amount: $2,500
  • Application: Information packet available in the Advisement Office/Career Center
  • Deadline: September 24th

Wendy’s High School Heisman Scholarship

  • Eligibility: Senior Scholar-Athletes with High Character and a 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Amount: $1,000 to $10,000
  • Application: Apply online at

AES Engineering Scholarship

Horatio Alger Scholarship

  • Eligibility: Seniors, family income must be $55,000 or less, GPA 2.0 or higher, involved in extracurricular and community service activities, and perseverance in overcoming adversity.
  • Amount: $6,000 to $25,000
  • Application: Apply online at

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards Program

  • Eligibility: 9th – 12th grade students who have exceptional leadership, community volunteer work where they have made an impact, etc.
  • Amount: $1,000 to $5,000

Milk Mustache MOO-Lah Scholarship

  • Eligibility: Senior who is planning to attend an in-state university or community college.
  • Amount: $8,000 to $12,000 (weekly drawings for $100 and Fiesta Bowl Game Tickets starting September 5th – November 21st)

In State Colleges – Scholarship Websites

National Scholarship Websites:

Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE):
A program where students can attend participating institutions in other states for reduced tuition. Instead of paying out-of-state tuition, a WUE participant pays the regular in-state tuition plus 50 percent of that amount.

PHS Financial Aid Night
When: Monday, September 17th
Where: PHS Library
Time: 5:30pm – 6:30pm
Come learn about FAFSA and other financial aid opportunities from a college representative. Details about financial aid, scholarships and other tools will be available to help prepare you for college.

12th Annual College Fair
When: Wednesday, October 24th
Where: Bradshaw Mountain High School Gym
Time: 5:30pm – 7:00pm
Come and talk with admission representatives from public and private universities and colleges from all over the country as well as trade schools and military branches. A financial aid presentation will be offered along with an optional workshop to complete your FAFSA. All students from Yavapai Country are encouraged to attend!

Cash for College
When: Monday, December 3rd
Where: Yavapai College
Time: 5:00-6:30pm
A local scholarship awareness night for students and families to learn about local scholarship opportunities! Plus, learn about the one scholarship application to fill out to be eligible for over 90 Arizona scholarship opportunities! You won’t want to miss it!
