Substitute Teacher Information

We partner with Educational Services, LLC, (ESI) to hire our substitute teachers.

Thank you for your interest in serving as a substitute teacher for Prescott Unified School District.  We use a third party company called Educational Services Inc. (ESI) to hire our substitute teachers. You would need to apply with them HERE. When you apply with ESI, select the District called "Yavapai County Substitute Consortium."  You will need to apply for a Substitute Certificate with the Department of Education (in order to substitute in a "Teaching " position), but that is a fairly easy process (if you hold a Bachelor's Degree). HERE is some more information about that process. If you are interested in subbing in a Paraprofessional / Teacher's Aide position, then the Substitute certificate is not required. 

What you need:

• Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card* (Required for ALL substitute positions with ESI)
• Valid Arizona Teacher Certificate or Arizona Substitute Certificate (certified substitute positions only)*
• Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization (if born in 1957 or later, or may waive)
• Pass a Mandatory Criminal Background Check

WITH TRAINING *
Half Day - $65
Full Day - $131
Long Term - $146

WITHOUT TRAINING
Half Day - $60
Full Day - $121
Long Term - $136

School Nurse - $175/$88 (Half Day)

*Free 2-day training for substitute teachers is offered each summer through Yavapai County Education Services Agency (YCESA). Contact YCESA for next scheduled dates. Teachers who have retired from PUSD in the past 5 years are considered to be “Trained” for purposes of Substitute Teacher payment.
