Dear Granite Mountain Students and Families,
We sincerely hope you are having a wonderful summer. Beginning tomorrow, July 15th, our office will reopen and we will be getting the school and classrooms ready for our 5th and 6th grade students! The academic and extracurricular planning is well underway and we cannot wait for you to join us for an amazing school year. Our first day of school will be Thursday, August 1, 2019.
If you completed online registration for this upcoming school year, we have received your registration information. In order to complete your child’s registration, we will need a copy of their birth certificate, immunization record as well as proof of residency prior to the start of school. We will also need to gather information regarding your child’s elective selection choices.
There are a few important announcements and upcoming events we want to share with our students and families.
Please be aware that teacher placements will be determined once student schedules are generated. Schedules will be available for pick-up at student schedule pick-up and classroom visits on Tuesday, July 30th. 5th & 6th grade school supply lists are available on the district website or by clicking on the following link:

At 3:30pm, an optional parent informational session will be held in the cafeteria. In addition, we will have an opportunity for parents to get signed up to access their student’s Powerschool information and food services will be available for lunch account help as well.
As a reminder, a $30.00 student activity fee will be due during schedule pick-up. This fee is used for student handbook, t-shirts, reduced field trip costs, classroom fees and materials.

Information about our Intramural Sports Program will be available at our orientations. During the Fall session, students will be able to participate in co-ed flag football and volleyball at Granite Mountain. Students wishing to be a part of cross country are able to sign up as well.
Badger University – 21st Century Before & After School Clubs:
Granite Mountain School will continue to offer before and after school tutoring/homework and enrichment clubs during the 2019-20 school. Information will be available during our back to school orientations.
The Mornings in the Grizzly Den Club
The Mornings in the Grizzly Den Club meets in the cafeteria before school from 6:45-7:45 AM. This club is for students whose parents must drop them off before 7:45. Those students will have supervision in the Grizzly Den connected to the cafeteria. This a grant funded program through our 21st Century before and after school program and is free for all students and families. This is a supervised time for homework completion and activities preparing students for their school day. To participate in this program, parents must complete the Badger University, before and after school club, program application.
**Immunizations are required for Students at 11 Years of Age. As a reminder, if your child is attending has or is turning 11 years old, they are required to receive one Tdap vaccine and one Meningococcal vaccine prior to their first day of school, Thursday, August 1sr. Students must have proof of all required immunizations, or a valid current exemption in order to attend school, per Arizona law. Please send your proof of immunizations to the school’s front office.
