Emergency Response Plan

Emergency Response Plan

Prescott Unified School District is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and secure learning and teaching environment for all students and staff.  We work to institute a consistent, deliberate, and systemic approach to school safety.  Our emergency response plan has been developed in conjunction with the Arizona School Risk Retention Trust, Inc. (TRUST) and the Arizona Department of Education’s School Safety Plan.  In order to provide a safe and secure teaching and learning environment, personnel must plan for the management of emergency events that cannot be predicted or prevented.  Our Emergency Response Plan is designed to help do that.

"Safe schools promote the protection of students from violence, exposure to weapons and threats, theft, bullying, and the sale or use of illegal substances on school grounds.  School safety is linked to improved student and school outcomes. Emotional and physical safety in school are related to increased academic performance. At the same time, students who are victims of physical or emotional harassment or who are involved in the sale or use of illegal substances on school grounds are at risk for poor attendance, course failure and dropout."(National Center on Safe Supportive Learning Environments, 2020)
