History of Mile High

  • “In 1867, Arizona’s first public schoolhouse was built on this site - a small log cabin that sat near the current entrance to our school. Thus began the tradition of excellence and service to the community as the school evolved from Prescott High School to Prescott Mile High Middle School. The original three buildings were constructed of solid, enduring materials as part of President Roosevelt’s WPA projects in the mid thirties and dedicated in 1939 as Prescott High School.  Look closely and you will still see WPA markings around campus.  Changing to Prescott Junior High in the 1960’s and Prescott Mile High Middle School in the 1980’s, the school has been helping prepare young people for success for over 80 years.”
