PUSD Education Foundation Awards Teacher Grants
If you were anywhere near a PUSD school last Friday. you would have heard the beat of the Prescott High School drum line and seen balloons and large checks being dispersed!
This can only mean one thing: the PUSD Education Foundation is delivering grant money to its well deserved recipients!
In a mere three years of existence, the Foundation has raised over $300,000 from community members and businesses to put back into PUSD schools, some of which is given out as grants for innovative teaching. This year’s recipients were awarded just over $21,000 in various innovative teaching grants.
Ian Owens from Prescott Mile High Middle School, Erin Sobo who teaches at PMHMS and Prescott High School, Ryan James and Terry Pemberton from PMHMS, Emma Gifford from Granite Mountain School, and Jen Lucas from Abia Judd Elementary were surprised by the drum line and members of the Foundation and presented checks in their classrooms.
Brandi Jex, Foundation member, said, ”It is thrilling to see the teachers and students get so excited and sometimes overcome with tears when they receive the grants! I love that teachers in PUSD know we support them!”
