Prescott High School (PHS) is celebrating Career and Technology (CTE) month. CTE courses combine an academic foundation with real world experience and employability skills, providing students a competitive advantage in the world. CTE provides students a path that leads to high school graduation, higher education, and 21st century jobs in skilled trades, applied sciences and technology.
Did you know that a Harvard study predicated in 2018 only 33% of careers would need a 4 year degree and that 57% of careers would need middle-skilled labor, requiring technical skills and training. PHS is providing opportunities for students in both areas of degree and non degree coursework.
PHS currently offers 6 CTE programs and will be adding 3 more for the 2020-2021 school year, pending board approval in the spring. The 6 programs are Digital Communications,
Business Management, Automotive Technologies, Film/TV, Computer Network Technologies, and Junior ROTC. The 3 programs that will be added for the 2020-2021 school are Sports Medicine, Animation, and Theater Tech. Many of these programs also offer dual enrollment college credit with Yavapai College. But wait there’s more! With the connection to Mountain Institute CTED (MI CTED), PHS students are able to take an additional 9 programs such as Aviation, Pre-Engineering, Welding, CNA, Medical Assisting, Automotive Collision Repair, Education Professions, Electrical Line Worker, and Automotive Technologies. Currently we have over 300 students enrolled in these various courses.
PHS CTE is providing opportunities to reach Every Child Every Day. Schedule a tour to visit the PHS CTE programs and the amazing learning that is happening everyday! CTE opens doors for our student’s futures.
