Philosophy & Objectives
The purpose of Taylor Hicks School is to provide a positive educational environment that will help each individual develop to his/her maximum capacity and become a well-adjusted, contributing member of an evolving democratic society.
Therefore, we believe:
The child and parents provide the starting place for all learning. The ultimate responsibility for learning lies with each individual.
The dignity, uniqueness and self worth of each individual should be recognized and nurtured both at school and home.
That each child's experiences in school are an integral part of life and should prepare the individual for a worthwhile future.
Consequently, we will:
Cultivate in all students the appreciation of both the responsibilities and benefits of citizenship in a democratic society.
Encourage an attitude of open-mindedness on questions involving social, economic and cultural change.
Help develop within all pupils the ability to make wise choices and form independent judgments.
Provide each child the opportunity to contribute according to his/her capacity and accept the contribution as important.
Adjust course content to the abilities of pupils within the class so that desirable basic skills and knowledge are acquired.
