Kindergarten
Our enrichment homework program begins right away. We send three to four assignments home each week. It takes 30-45 minutes per week. Our goals is for everyone to read when they leave our classroom at the end of the school year.
Grade 1
Homework for primary grades should be limited activities that allow for completion of unfinished work, such as reading stories, practicing spelling words, learning number facts, etc. Enrichment activities would also be appropriate. In the primary grades, homework will rarely exceed thirty minutes.
Grade 2
Read with an adult a minimum of 75 minutes each week. Return reading calendar (log) each week. Study addition and subtraction facts to 18 five times per day. Study spelling words daily for ten minutes. Finish work sent home because it was not completed in class.
Grade 3
When homework is assigned to 3rd grade students, it is expected to be turned in conscientiously on the due date. Homework will be accepted one day late, but only for 50% of the earned grade. If homework is turned in on time, but is incomplete or is not done to the best of the student's ability, the student will work in the study center each recess to complete the assignments satisfactorily. If homework is not turned in to at least meet the "one day late/50% policy," the student will complete the assignment in the study center at recesses until the work is satisfactorily completed, but the student will receive no grade.
Grades 4 & 5
When homework is assigned, it must be turned in at the beginning of class on the day it is due. If a student does not entirely finish the assignment, it must be done during recess times and turned in that day.
If the assigned work is not turned in, the student will receive no credit for that assignment. Late work will not be accepted. It is extremely important that students take the responsibility to get their work in on time.
Students with excused absences will have one day to make up the homework for each day they were absent.
