Taylor Hicks School Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony

Taylor Hicks School held a groundbreaking ceremony for our new gym and classrooms on Friday, April 7, 2006. Local dignitaries who spoke at the ceremony included Mayor Rowle Simmons, Governing Board members Tom Staley and Steve Campbell, and Superintendent Kevin Kapp. In attendance were former long-time Taylor Hicks principals Kelton Aker and Tom Robbins, as well as members of the Hicks family. Student council president Madison Williams led the group in the pledge of allegiance. The Taylor Hicks choir sang America the Beautiful and the entire student body joined in with the school song. Student Council members Madison Williams and Jeffrey Malone joined the dignitaries in the ceremonial shoveling.
