Classroom Expectations

Students are expected to arrive on time and prepared for class.  Being prepared includes having homework and all required materials for the class.  In the classroom students are expected to be respectful and responsible at all times.

Classroom expectations follow the 6 pillars of character counts:

                     Be Respectful

                     Be Responsible

                     Be Fair

                     Be Trustworthy

                     Be A Good Citizen

                     Be Caring

Consequences

In the event that students do not follow the classroom expectations, the following steps will be implemented.

    1. Warning

    2. Time out of the classroom

    3.  Detention

    4.  Parent Contact

    5.  Referral

Late work policy

Students can turn in missing assignments any time before we take the chapter test.  However, the late work policy is as follows:

  • At the beginning of each quarter students will start with 100 accountability points, each time an assignment is turned in late 5 points will be deducted from their accountability grade. (1st Quarter=5 points, 2nd Quarter=10 points, 3rd and 4th Quarters=15 points).
  • The assignment will be graded, and the earned score will be entered into the gradebook.
  • Some large projects may be given (with a due date). Projects will not be accepted late unless previous arrangements have been made with the teacher.

Redo Assignments

Students can redo any assignment regardless of the grade received, but must be turned in before we take the chapter test.  Work will be graded, and the higher of the two scores will be entered into the gradebook.

Extra Credit

Extra credit is occasionally offered as part of their homework assignments.  Extra credit will also be offered for turning in Powerschool progress reports (printed out and signed by a parent).  Students may print their math and science progress reports (please print the detailed listing of assignments) up to 6 times per quarter and turn them in for extra credit.  Students may do this up to 6 times per quarter.

Our math textbook has many resources we will use throughout the year.  Completing quizzes and activities on the phschool.com website will be offered as extra credit.  For more detailed information on how to use phschool.com see the “Other Links” portion of this website.

Notebooks

Each student is expected to keep one large 3-ring binder for all core subjects (math, science, language arts, and social studies).  The binder will hold spiral notebooks (used for taking notes) for each class and a pencil pouch to carry pencils, pens, etc.  The spiral notebooks (math and science) will be graded frequently to ensure students are taking proper notes in class.

Tardies

Students are expected to be on time and prepared for class. If students are late or do not have the required materials for class they will be marked tardy.  Four tardies will result in a teacher-assigned detention.  Consistent tardiness will require a referral.
