Enrichment is exactly what it sounds like; this is a
period that enriches the curriculum taught in other classes. Interdisciplinary projects are the backbone
of this program. Some of the exciting
student generated projects are trebuchets, a Greek Museum, solar cars and
bridge building.
Course
1 provides a solid foundation in fundamental middle grade topics such as
decimals and fractions, with an age-appropriate introduction to key algebraic
and geometry topics. This is a
challenging, problem-solving based curriculum that adheres to the Arizona
academic standards. Hands-on
activities, manipulatives, and technology are utilized to reinforce
lessons.
Sixth Grade is a wonderful year in Science because
of the wide breadth of information we cover, as well as the depth we are able
to achieve. We will study weather,
climate, rivers, oceans, water systems, cells, living organisms and
classification. We will be doing many
projects and hands-on activities such as dissections and other labs. The most important thing we will cover in
Science this year is: What is
Science?
