2008-2009 Registration
School starts August 4, 2008.

NOTE: ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS WILL BE CLOSED MAY 28-JULY 11. During this time, please begin the new student registration process at the PUSD District Office, 146 S. Granite Street (downtown - corner of Granite and Goodwin, across from the parking garage).

Open Registration for New Students
Children who turn five years of age before September 1, 2008, are eligible for kindergarten in the 2008-09 school year. At the time of registration, parents will schedule an appointment for kindergarten screening, to be held at appointed times in July. The screening is not an entrance exam. It is intended to provide information for our teaching staff’s instructional purposes.

Open registration for students new to the district is now ongoing at the individual elementary schools. To enroll your child in a PUSD school, please go to your neighborhood school or school of choice. Parents are encouraged to register as soon as possible to ensure placement in the school of choice. Please bring your child's birth certificate and immunization records. Arizona law requires that parents provide verification that immunizations have been completed prior to starting school.

Arizona’s Open Enrollment law mandates that all Arizona school districts allow transfers between schools and school districts based on space availability. With this is mind, parents are encouraged to register as soon as possible. Because of the open enrollment law, students are granted enrollment in a school based on the following priorities (enrollment is always based on space available):

-New students living in attendance area granted enrollment immediately
-New in-district (but out-of-attendance-area) students granted placement March 10
-New out-of-district students registering March 3 - May 27 granted school placement May 28
