District Approved Activities


The following professional growth activities have been approved by the district. The district realizes the significance of these activites to the teacher, and by extension, to the students, and recognizes that part of the time spent in these activities may be on school time.

arrowCOOPERATING TEACHER
-If you host a student teacher, you may earn 3 in-district credits for 8 weeks or 6 in-district credits for 16 weeks.
- You may not receive any remuneration from the host college or university.
- A maximum of 15 in-district credits are allowed for any employee during their work experience with PUSD.
- Complete a Certified Request for Course Approval Form
- Present a copy of the Student Teacher Placement form from the host college/university.
-Sign a district Cooperating Teacher In-District Credit Affadavit, verifying that you will not keep any remuneration or compensation from the host university. This includes direct pay, tuition waiver or any other type of compensation of a monetary nature. Checks received from the host university will be signed over to Prescott Unified School District.

arrowMENTORING A NEW PUSD TEACHER
-Earn either 1 or 3 in-district credits.
-A maximum of 15 in-district credits are allowed for any employee during their work experience with PUSD. [Mentoring Form ]

arrowPRACTICUM STUDENTS
- Earn in-district credit (15 seat hours = 1 in-district credit) by working with a practicum student from Northern Arizona University, Yavapai College or Prescott College. You must present a certificate of participation from the school with whom you are working.
-Limited to 30 hours/2 in-district credits per student.
- A maximum of 10 in-district credits are allowed for any employee during their work experience with PUSD.

arrowDISTRICT STAFF DEVELOPMENT LIBRARY
Arrange for Independent Study Credit for 1, 2 or 3 in-district credits through participation in this program from Heidi Atkinson, Curriculum/Testing Coordinator. [Contact Heidi Atkinson]

arrowSTUDY GROUP
Join a PUSD sponsored "study group" through the Curriculum Department. [Contact Heidi Atkinson]

arrowTECHNOLOGY INNOVATIONS
Other training resulting from federal, state or local government for the district to use and implement. Trainings will appear as needed outside of the work day.

arrowCOMPUTER INTEGRATION I AND II
45 hours university style classes offered after school. These may be taken for university credit. Certificate provided upon completion.

arrowOBSERVATION OF SIDE-BY-SIDE TEACHING
Observe, during your preparation period, a fellow teacher at your site who is participating in active technology, side-by-side interation teaching. Receive one hour of seat time (1/15) toward in-district credit. [Form ]

arrow ASSET
This utilizes the computer and online learning environment to offer over 100 classes in everything from 6+1 Rubric Training to the Math Academy. All classes have been approved by PUSD for professional development credit. Classes range from 15 to 45 seat hours and some are offered for university credit as well. [Details]
