Optimist Club of Yavapai County Annual Essay and Oratorical Contests

The Optimist Club of Yavapai County invites you to participate in the annual Essay and Oratorical contests for the 2018-2019 year.

Essay Contest

The topic for this year’s Essay Contest is: When All the World’s Problems are Solved, is Optimism Still Necessary? The deadline for students to enter the competition is January 21, 2019. In order for students to participate, they cannot be 18 years old or older on 1 October 2018. As in years past, this is an opportunity for a student to compete for a $2,500 scholarship for when they graduate from high school and attend a post-secondary institution, either college or a vocational school.

Oratorical Contest

This year’s Oratorical Contest topic is: Is There a Fine Line Between Optimism and Reality? The deadline for entries for this competition is March 1, 2019. In order for students to participate, they cannot be 18 years old or older on 1 October 2018. This is an opportunity for a student to compete for a maximum scholarship of $22,500 for when they graduate from high school and attend a post-secondary institution, either college or a vocational school.
