Library : Yavapai Library Network
The Prescott High School Library is a member of the Yavapai Library Network (YLN), a consortium of school, public, academic, private, and museum libraries which share a common database of resources within Yavapai County. Other lending libraries in the YLN include: Bagdad Public Library, Black Canyon City Public Library, Bradshaw Mountain High School Library, Chino Valley High School Library, Chino Valley Public Library, Cottonwood Public Library, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Library, Heritage Middle School Library, Prescott College Library, Prescott Public Library, Prescott Valley Public Library, Sharlot Hall Museum, and Yavapai College Library.
The YLN began in 1973 as a resource sharing project between Prescott Public Library and Yavapai College Library. Today, the YLN currently includes 35 libraries within the county and provides 700,000 items to students and community members.
Each participating library shares a common automation system which provides the information needed to locate and request materials that may not be available at a particular library. Couriers deliver library materials between the network libraries so that PHS students don't need to travel from one library to another.
Please remember that each library has its own set of rules, policies, fine structures, and loan periods. For example, a college library might lend their reference books to teachers only, while a public library does not lend reference books at all. One library may charge ten cents a day for overdue books and another library may charge fifty cents a day. You are responsible for learning the local rules that apply at libraries you choose to use.
