Global and Cultural Studies is a multidisciplinary course that introduces students to various regions of the world from a geographic, historical, and cultural perspective. The course provides increased international awareness and insight into foreign affairs that permits a more educated understanding of other cultures and enhanced knowledge of America's interests and role in the world. Students are required to go on co-curriculum-in-action field trips.

Freshman ASLA students must maintain courtesy, grooming, and professional standards but do not wear blue USAF uniforms for the first semester. Students dress out on Thursdays only, wearing an ASLA unit t-shirt/sweatshirt.
