Hello First Grade Families!

Thanks to everyone who came to the Parent-Teacher Conferences! As we look ahead into November, we will be very busy making our preparations for the annual "First Grade Feast," a reenactment of the Pilgrims' and Indians' first Thanksgiving Feast together. We will be learning about the people who came to America on the Mayflower, and how the Indians helped them in their new country.

We wish Mr. McGee a speedy recovery with his knee replacement, and welcome Mrs. Schnitzius, who will teach his class until January! Let's all keep up the good work! Please make sure your children come to school on time each day, ready to learn with their excellent manners! Thanks for all you do! The First Grade Team

Second graders continue their study of history, 13 colonies, going west and native tribes of America and Thanksgiving customs. We continue to study 3 systems of the human body: respiration (breathing), circulation (heart and blood), and digestion. Please continue to read each night, at least 4 nights a week, for 20-40 minutes. Some students will begin
AR reading program. In math we begin 2 digit adding, then 2 digit adding with regrouping (carrying). Keep practicing fast math facts!

We'd like to offer a thank you to parents who chaperoned our Sharlot Hall field trip. Additionally, thank you to all parents/guardians who came for parent conferences. We appreciate your support and cooperation.

We look forward to cooler temperatures and hopefully some precipitation as we distinguish between "weather" and "climate" in 4th grade habitat studies. Multiplication facts memorization is on! Practice and learn those not known, 3 at a time, through x12s.

Art Docents make life more interesting/meaningful this month. We are thankful for community involvement in our school. We are thankful for our veterans, supportive community members, parents, staff, and students learning to love and loving to learn.

October has ended, and the fifth grade is happy to share that our spooky Harris Burdick stories were a treat! We had many stories that were suspenseful, scary, and some were hilarious! Superb job fifth graders! As a reminder, we wish to tell you to keep reading your A.R. books at home. Many people did not make their goals last quarter, and we want
everyone to make it this time. Also, some students have been struggling with the memorization of their multiplication and division facts. This is a skill that must be learned, especially for middle school, so keep practicing these facts at home. (0's-12's) Thank you and keep reading! The Fifth Grade Team
