Mile High’s physical education program focuses on the basic components of physical fitness: cardio-respiratory endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, and motor skill performance. We believe that increased physiological health will enhance the capacity of each student to enjoy life through the endorsement of the philosophy of “Fitness for All.” Students participate in the Presidential Physical Fitness program and the Coca Cola sponsored “10,000 Steps a Day” program.

PUSD’s comprehensive health curriculum is intended to help students to make healthy choices in nutrition, physical activity, and substance abuse prevention. The Prescott Police Department provides the key instructional component of the substance abuse prevention; it is a three-tiered program for grades six through eight. The sequence begins with D.A.R.E. in sixth grade, Project Alert in seventh grade, and Take Charge of Your Life in eighth grade. Sex education is taught in grades seven and eight in separate segments to boys and girls. We are currently piloting a supplemental health curriculum after school program is called Social Responsibility Training (SRT), which targets the at-risk population at our school.
