arrow Absence, Illnesses, and Medication Policy

Children who are ill with runny nose, continuous cough, vomiting, red throat, unexplained rashes, swollen glands, head or stomach aches, who have had a fever within the last 24 hours, or who did not attend school that day will not be accepted into the program that day. Parents must inform the Program Coordinator when a child’s absence is due to a potentially infectious illness.

If a child becomes ill or seriously injured at the program, the parent will be promptly notified and asked to pick up their child from the program immediately. In case of an emergency, as determined by the program staff, the paramedics will be called and the parent will be notified immediately. Parents will be responsible for all costs incurred in such emergencies.

PUSD KidsCO will administer only physician-prescribed medications in the original prescription container. The pharmacist to include name of the student, date, dosage, name of the medication, and method of administration must label the container. The parent or guardian must complete a consent form for the administration of medication and be on file at the program site. Per Department of Health Services, KidsCO shall return all unused prescription medications to the parent when the medication prescription date has expired or the medication is no longer being administered to the child. KidsCO will dispose of medications after two weeks of the expiration date or after two weeks of the child withdrawing from KidsCO.

A child’s immunization record must be provided at the time of registration. The immunization record provided by the parent shall contain all of the information required by the Department of Health Services.

arrow Field Trip Requirements & Procedures

KidsCo does not schedule field trips on a regular basis during the school year. If an opportunity for a field trip does arise, parent or guardian permission will be required prior to a child’s participation. Prescott Unified School District buses or vans will transport children on field trips.

arrow Insurance

Prescott Unified School District carries liability insurance, including coverage for any vehicle used for transporting students during program field trips.

arrow Sign-In/Sign-Out Policy

For the safety of your child, individuals will be required to show picture identification to the site staff at any time. A child will not be released to an individual refusing to show identification upon request. Police will be called if an individual refusing to show identification removes a child from the program.

Per Department of Health Services requirements, a parent or an authorized party must sign your child in and out of the program each day. To sign a child in or out, the parent or authorized party must sign their first initial and full last name along with the date and time.

If your child is participating in an area away from the parent sign in/out book, you or your authorized signer will be issued a Release Ticket after you child has been signed out. You will then present the ticket to the staff on duty at the area where your child is located. The ticket assures the staff on duty that the individual picking up the child is an authorized signer, has followed sign-out procedures and been photo identified if necessary.

A child enrolled in KidsCO will be released only to those persons specifically authorized on the Emergency Card. A sibling may sign out a program participant if he or she is listed on the Emergency Card as an authorized signer. No exceptions will be made without the advance permission of the parents. Due to state regulations, only the parent and or guardian may sign children out who receive federal assistance. It is assumed that both parents have the right to pick up a child unless it is otherwise noted. If only one parent has sole legal custody of a child, KidsCO must have legal documentation in the child’s file stating such.

Once the program has closed and a parent or authorized signer does not appear within one hour of closing to pick up the child and cannot be reached, the local police department may be called to pick up the child.

arrow Snack and Lunch Options

A nutritious snack is served during the after school program. For those children attending Early Release Care, lunch options include either bringing a non-perishable lunch or purchasing lunch through the school lunch program. During School Closure Care the school lunch program is not available. Children must bring a non-perishable lunch with them to KidsCo. Neither a refrigerator nor a microwave will be available during the children’s lunchtime.

arrow Student Enrollment Limits

The limit for student enrollment in Kids & Company is primarily determined by two factors. The program is offered based upon availability of space at each site. Each of the schools determines the space that KidsCo utilizes. Therefore, the program offered may be reduced or relocated yearly due to increase in student enrollment at individual school locations. Secondly, because KidsCo is committed to providing a safe, quality program, its program services only the number of students the space allows under DHS capacity limit guidelines and a low student to staff ratio. However, please note, if a minimum enrollment is not met, the program will be subject to cancellation at each individual site.

arrow Transportation Policy

Transportation to and from KidsCo is the responsibility of the parents unless special arrangements have been made in advance.
