Consideration
of: Approving the Classified Auxiliary Salary Schedule as
presented, effective July 1, 2001.

Information:
The proposed Auxiliary Salary Schedule will allow the placement
of our classified directors, computer staff and high school head
custodian on a salary schedule formulated after surveying
similar-sized school districts with regard to salaries for those
positions. The proposed
salary schedule resembles the certified salary schedule in the number
of steps and career salary potential.
In addition, the Meet and Confer team have endorsed the
proposed salary schedule.
This salary schedule was originally on a
previous Governing Board agenda, but was removed from the agenda to
allow time for the financial implications of Proposition 301 to be
fully understood, as well as the implications of Proposition 301 with
regard to staff eligible for Performance Pay.
With the opinion of the Attorney General being favorable, the
administration now feels comfortable in recommending this proposed
salary schedule to the Governing Board for approval.

Title
IV (Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities)
To
support comprehensive school and community-based programs designed to
make the nations’ schools safe and free of drugs in order that the
climate is conductive to the achievement of high standards for all
students. Please refer to Enclosure #9.
State
Chemical Abuse
To
support the Title IV (Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities) in
the tobacco and drug use prevention program.

Carl
Perkins Basic Vocational Education Grant
The
Carl Perkins Basic Vocational Education Grant funds vocational
education programs at Prescott High School.
The aim of vocational technical education is to retain students
in school and to provide them with the vocational and academic skills
they need for successful employment and/or future education and
training. Please refer to Enclosure #10.
DES (Department of Economic Security)
Funding
is for school-based prevention programs to address academic failure,
substance abuse or behavioral problems.
Children and their families will be provided with the necessary
skills to promote a successful school experience. Please refer to
Enclosure #11.
State
Priority Programs Vocational Education
The
State Priority Programs Vocational Education Grant provides funds to
enhance supplemental vocational education programs at Granite Mountain
Middle School, Prescott Mile High Middle School and Prescott High
School. Please refer to
Enclosure #12.
Juvenile
Justice Grant
The
Juvenile Justice Grant is a collaborative grant between Central
Yavapai Coalition for Substance Abuse Education and Prevention, Youth
Count, Prescott Unified School District, Humboldt Unified School
District and Chino Valley Unified School District.
Youth Count is the fiscal agent.
This collaboration between the community and educational
institutions is to reduce crimes and substance abuse among juveniles
while increasing academic performance.
Prescott Unified School District will be awarded $9,995.00 for
a partial salary and benefits of a Family Services Coordinator.
This person coordinates family workshops and support groups
throughout Prescott Unified School District. Please refer to Enclosure
#13.
