In Consideration of:  The possible approval of a partnership with the Arizona Classical Theatre (ACT) in hosting the Arizona Shakespeare Festival the summer of 2005 at Prescott High School in the Ruth Street Theater.

Relevant Information:

The Arizona Classical Theater (ACT) program is asking that Prescott Unified School District consider hosting their annual Arizona Shakespeare Festival at the Ruth Street Theater at Prescott High School the summer of 2005.  The Shakespeare Festival has traditionally been held in Granite Creek Park in the fall, but ACT would prefer to have the event indoors and during the summer at least for one year.

The cost to Prescott Unified School District would be no more than approximately $2,000.  This cost would include paying two Prescott High School students to manage the technical aspects of the Ruth Street Theater and any extra custodial time necessary during the actual performances.  Civic Center funds could cover this cost.

The school district receives several benefits from hosting this event, including professional-level workshops for our students during the upcoming school year.  Additional benefits are listed in the enclosure.
