How to get help checking on your child's grades or assignments

Parents may monitor their child’s grades on the Internet by checking InTouch. You will need to register online if you don’t have a user id and password. Your user id and password will be emailed to you from Ms. Bais in the front office as soon as it is assigned. Teachers are required to update their electronic grade books each Monday, which will update to InTouch by Tuesday morning.

Parents may contact teachers directly with any questions or concerns that they have. The best method of contact is via PUSD staff email. Go to our FACULTY DIRECTORY and click on a teacher’s name to send email. You may also contact teachers from your email program by addressing emails to firstname.lastname@prescottschools.com (example: david.hunt@prescottschools.com). Another way of contacting teachers is by phone or by leaving a phone message (phone calls will not be directed to teachers’ classrooms while they are teaching).

Parents may check on current assignments by logging on to their child’s teachers’ web pages which are accessible via www.prescottschools.com/gmms/teacher_pages.htm. Click on the teachers’ names to view their web pages.

One good source of knowing if students have an understanding of current assignments is to ask to see their school agendas. All students were given an agenda at the beginning of the school year, and they are required to copy the week’s assignments from their teachers’ boards EVERY MONDAY. They are given time to do this by each teacher.

Students who are having difficulty keeping their grades up should be assigned to a 7th period Homework Assistance class which runs quarterly. Students who are doing well academically may also opt to sign up for Homework Assistance, or may take an Exploratory class during that period. In addition, parents may also choose to have their child assigned to a Homework Assistance class. (One exception to this rule is the Economics Exploratory class which every 8th MUST complete during one quarter of 8th grade.)

One final parental option is to sign up your child to receive a Friday Report, in which each teacher reports weekly progress on a form which your child takes to each class on Friday, then brings home to you. Please contact Mr. Hunt or Ms. Hendershot if you wish to take advantage of this option.

Student assistance may be found in our Homework Clubs which are held every Tuesdays and Thursdays after school (for about one hour). Parents must provide transportation home from the school as there are no late busses. Please contact Ms. Rose (6th grade,) Ms. Canty (7th grade,) or Mr. Jackson (8th grade) for further information regarding these “Clubs.” There is no charge for attending. In addition, these teachers are generally available each morning they do not have supervisory duties, and are happy to help them with academic questions. Additionally, students may get a pass from their 7th period teachers to receive tutoring from NJHS students on Tuesdays (in the library). Further, lists of private tutors are available in the office.
