Program Description
Unlike other preschools, we are staffed with experienced teachers who are certified by the state of Arizona and hold Master's degrees in various fields of education. Considering that 90% of your child's brain cells are developed by age 3, it's crucial to have teachers who understand how individual children develop and learn.
Discovery Gardens Early Childhood Center offers a variety of services to young children, ages 3-5 years:
- special needs
- at-risk
- family literacy
- peer partners
The preschool program is NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) accredited and Arizona Department of Health licensed. We follow developmentally appropriate practices and the curriculum is aligned with the Arizona state standards for early childhood education.
The teachers are certified by the Department of Education in the areas of Elementary Education, Special Education and Early Childhood Education. They continue to receive professional training and updates in the most current early childhood practices.
Children with special needs may also receive services in the following areas:
- speech/language
- cognition
- motor
- social/emotional
- adaptive/self-help
- vision
- hearing
Free monthly developmental screening is provided, including vision and hearing, plus diagnostic follow-up evaluations, if needed.
Children must be screened prior to enrollment so staff may determine the needs of the child and family. Call 717-3272 x 108 for an appointment.
The Discovery Gardens preschool program offers child directed, developmentally appropriate practices in a center based early childhood environment.
Programs are funded through various grants and parent tuition fees. The Center also accepts DES. Parents should contact the Center for child enrollment.
