We are extremely proud to announce that our Superintendent, Joe Howard, has won the Arizona School Administrators (ASA) Distinguished Administrator – Superintendent’s Division Award. The winner of this award is recognized by peers and ASA affiliate members for providing outstanding service to their division, ASA, and profession. Joe was nominated by Governing Board President, Greg Mengarelli, and endorsed by County Superintendent Tim Carter and State Senator Karen Fann. Joe won this award for the work he did supporting the PUSD bond and override initiatives, as well as engaging the Prescott community in helping to develop a strategic plan and community partnerships. An excerpt from the application says, “Mr. Howard creates vision, inspires through his words, and leads through his actions. He truly believes in his staff and students.” He will receive this award at the June ASA Conference in Tucson.
In addition, Joe Howard was honored last week as the Youth Advocate of the Year by North Star Youth Partnership. They recognized him for his contributions to the youth in our community and our support of North Star. North Star provides many programs for PUSD, such as Girl Talk, Baby Ready Or Not, Teen Maze, Sex Ed Instruction, Priceless Prom, and more. When he received the award, Joe spoke about how community partnerships like these help to provide our students with opportunities and additional learning experiences.
